Durham County Council is offering a Summer Family Swim price to promote affordable family access to swimming during the summer holidays. • A family of four can enjoy a general swim or fun session at selected pools for just £10 (usual price: £14) • Families are welcome to use the offer as many times as they like, there is no limit on how often it can be purchased • Valid Dates: Wednesday 6th August – Sunday 31st August 2025 • Purchase: Available to buy on the day at participating sites • No booking required – first come, first served Participating Pools: • Peterlee • Newton Aycliffe • Woodhouse Close • Teesdale • Freemans Quay • Chester-le-Street • Wolsingham • The Louisa Centre • Consett *Not valid at Spennymoor Leisure Centre, including seaside sessions *Not Valid for Splashtot sessions Terms and Conditions – Summer Family Swim Offer 2025 Normal pool admission and supervision policy applies.

Get your goggles and beach towels ready as a free fun session is available on a weekend for the summer holidays at thrive! Throughout the summer a free fun session can be enjoyed by all at one of our fun sessions held across our pools. To qualify, swimmers need to have a thrive card (terms and conditions apply). Make sure you bring yours along or apply online in advance. Visit Leisure Hub and join online. Free fun swim sessions available throughout the summer include: Woodhouse Close Leisure Centre: Saturday 1pm – 2pm Chester – le – Street Leisure Centre: Saturday 1pm – 2pm Peterlee leisure Centre: Sunday 1pm – 2pm Newton Aycliffe leisure Centre: Sunday 1.30pm – 2.30pm Freemans Quay leisure Centre: Sunday – 1.30pm – 2.30pm The Louisa Centre: Sunday 3pm – 4pm Consett Leisure Centre:  Saturday 12noon - 1pm Teesdale leisure Centre: Sunday 11am – 12noon Wolsingham leisure Centre: Sunday 11.15am – 12.15pm

Being active has so many benefits to support our physical health and wellbeing. We want to support everyone to be more active, whether you’re new to exercise and need some help to get started or training for your next challenge – we’re here to help.

Our leisure centres are equipped with a range of activities and ways to be active, including gym, classes and swimming, as well as 5-a side and other activities. Our staff and experienced coaches are on hand to offer you support and encouragement whatever your fitness journey.

If you’re new and would like some advice and support on getting started our Move activities can help you. Our programme features a range of classes from seated exercise to walking football – all designed to help you get moving. Or visit the Move Hub at Abbey Leisure Centre, featuring power assisted equipment, to help you improve mobility.

Fitness begins at any age and we have a range of activities suitable for children and young people from soccer tots, gymnastics and football. Plus, our soft play and Abbey Adventure facilities are a great way to keep the kids active and have fun! Young people may also enjoy swimming and gym activities as part of our thrive active junior membership.
