Couch to 5K

Couch to 5K is for everyone, whether you have never run before, or you want to back into being more active. In just 10 weeks it is an easy way to get fitter, happier and healthier. The sessions start with a mix of running and walking, which gradually builds up your fitness and stamina. You’ll also do activities that make running fun and help you get to know others in your group. Each session is about 45 minutes and includes warm up, and cool down activities.

Couch to 5K is open to anyone aged over 12 years, 12 to 16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult.

Help to get moving

If you don’t know where to start we can also offer you a dedicated one to one support service which allows you to receive tailored advice on how to move more.

NHS Couch to 5K app

If you’re not quite ready to join us in person then why not try the Couch to 5K app. It’s a running programme for absolute beginners and has helped more than four million people to start running. The app has a choice of five trainers to motivate you, works with your music player, tracks your runs and connects you with other Couch to 5K runners. You can complete the course in as little as nine weeks or longer if you want to go at your own pace.
