Holiday activities

Leisure centres offer a range of holiday activities from multi-sport camps to swimming crash courses.

Contact your local leisure centre for their holiday programme.

Swimming

  • Swimming lessons: From babies, tots to kids, our learn to swim programme will teach all the skills needed to enjoy water safely and with confidence. Whether you are a beginner or looking to develop your swimming technique find out more today and see where your journey can take you.
  • Free Weekend Swimming for 18’s and under: Leisure centres are offering one free fun session on a weekend.  Available for ages 18 years and under. Please be aware that some of our swim sessions have an age limit and supervision ratios apply. We may ask children to demonstrate they can swim 25 meters competently before allowing entry on the inflatable.
  • Swimming Crash Courses: Swimming crash courses are available at centre across the county.  Crash Courses are great for all swimmers, ranging from non-swimmers through to adults.   Our crash courses can be very helpful for children that have never been to a swimming lesson, by introducing them to the swimming lesson environment.   They also help children and adults to build their confidence in the water in a short period of time, as well as helping swimmers who are currently in lessons to progress and develop their skills more quickly enabling them to move up into the next stage. For Further details please ask reception at your local leisure centre.
  • Splashability: Sessions provide an opportunity for disabled children, young people and adults to take part in an exclusive swimming session for free if you live in County Durham. The sessions take place on Sundays at the Louisa Centre and Spennymoor.
  • Swimming clubsA number of swimming clubs meet at pools across the county. If your youngster is interested in taking their swimming to the next level, check out what’s available in your local centre.
