Our leisure centres offer a range of facilities for people who need extra support when coming to the swimming pool. If you require a carer during your visit, they can swim for free.
- Changing places: Our changing places offer toilet and washing facilities with equipment such as a hoist, adult sized changing bench and space for carers. These are located in our town centres and are open for anyone to use. Changing places are available at Freeman’s Quay, the Louisa Centre, Spennymoor, Newton Aycliffe
- Pool hoist: All of our swimming pools have a hoist and staff will be on hand to assist you into the water. Spennymoor has a submersible wheelchair to allow you access straight into the water from the shallow waters into your preferred depth. All of our facilities have accessible changing rooms or cubicles.
- Staff assistance: Our staff are always on hand to assist you with any additional requirements or support on your visit. You are welcome to contact the leisure centre beforehand to discuss your needs and so that we can ensure equipment is set up in advance.
