Get ready to dive back in! Spennymoor Leisure Centre’s swimming pool is reopening to the public on Monday, 14 October, following essential maintenance and exciting upgrades.
The refurbishments include a brand-new water play feature, plus upgrades to the pool’s tank and plant room for improved efficiency and sustainability. These changes are part of the centre’s larger transformation, which will also see the opening of a Thrive kitchen serving healthy food, along with a soft play area later this year.
Cllr James Rowlandson, our Cabinet member for resources, investment, and assets, said: “We’re excited to reopen Spennymoor’s pool with upgraded systems and fresh features, marking another step in the town’s leisure transformation. Our goal is to create a modern, accessible leisure hub that promotes health and wellbeing for all.”
The newly relocated central reception area, which reopened last year as part of phase one, is already welcoming guests. Once the transformation is complete, the centre will offer enhanced leisure facilities and house the town’s library.
